The new masterplan focuses on the reorganization of streets. The main street, Zaķusalas Boulevard, will be moved deeper into the island, creating building plots on both sides towards the shoreline. It will be a central artery of the neighborhood and the main axis for public and private transport, allowing for pedestrian-friendly urban development next to the waterfront.
Zaķusala Residential Quarter I is an anchor object in Zaķusala residential development. The architecture of the building was inspired by the unique location in Zaķusala in the middle of the Daugava. The residential building will be the first and for a while also the only residential building on the island.
Zaķusala Residential Quarter II represents a distinctive evolution of the first building phase, featuring an urban structure defined by free standing volumes integrated with the surroundings. To harmonize the new apartment block with the natural landscape, the color palette of the facades takes inspiration from the hues present in nature.
